Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will seemingly continue in Modern Warfare’s footsteps, in terms of stealing a good bit of your console’s storage space. Although pre-loading times appear fairly generous, next-gen users unsurprisingly will be faced with downloading some massive file sizes.

Before you end up on Amazon searching for an external hard drive, all platforms will have the ability to only download certain portions of the game. Those on Xbox One and PS4 will see a file size similar to last year’s title, with next-gen editions needing about an extra 40GB. Here is Black Ops Cold War’s file size on each platform at launch.

  • PlayStation 4: 94GB
  • Xbox One: 93GB
  • PlayStation 5: 133GB
  • Xbox Series S/X: 136GB
  • PC: 82GB/125GB on Ultra Graphics

The PS5 is estimated to have around 700GB in useable storage, with the Xbox Series X offering about 802GB. If you think that puts a dent on each’s SSD, downloading it onto the Series S will take up more than one-third of its reported 364GB of free space.

Pre-loading for PS4 and Xbox One versions will begin on November 5 at 9 PM PT, with PC owners allowed to preload the game on November 10 at 10 AM PT. Next-gen buyers can start pre-loading on the day of each console’s launch.

Black Ops Cold War will release on all platforms on November 13, so there’s certainly enough time to pre-order and pre-load.
