After several rumors were making rounds on social media regarding Cyberpunk 2077’s day one-patch, CD Projekt Red has issued a statement clarifying the same. Cyberpunk 2077 was initially slated to release back in April 2020; however, after a series of delays, it is all set to release on December 10, 2020.

The past few days have been pretty rough for the game as many copies were reportedly leaked by a few retailers worldwide. This resulted in users posting gameplay videos and other screenshots on social media several days ahead of release. Consequently, CD Projekt Red issued a statement warning players to refrain from publishing such content as they might end up sending MAX-TAC after people who do so.

Amidst the leak gameplay videos, a user posted on Reddit (now taken down by the moderators) that Cyberpunk 2077 apparently has a 56GB Day One Patch. The news quickly became viral, and CD Projekt Red’s Fabian Mario Döhl soon clarified that the Day One Patch doesn’t even exist at this point.

A few other Twitter users who got access to the game further report that the screenshot of the Day One Patch posted by the user is, in fact, the data being copied from the game’s disc. The PlayStation 5 shows copies under downloads, which led to the entire confusion.

With exactly a week left for the launch of the game and numerous copies of the game spotted in the wild, players looking forward to playing the game are advised to stray away from social media for a few days to avoid any kind of spoilers. While CD Projekt Red has assured that they will take stern action against any leaks before launch, it is better to be safe than sorry.
