Not every Pokémon you use in Pokémon Go will be useful in the Ultra, Master, or even a raid Pokémon. Sometimes, the Pokémon you want to practice with and train up will only ever be good for one purpose, and for Diggersby, that would be the Great League. It doesn’t serve much use outside of that.
Diggersby is a Normal and Ground-type Pokémon. It’s weak to Fighting, Grass, Ice, and Water-type attacks, but it’s resistant to Electric, Ghost, Poison, and Rock-type moves. It has a maximum CP of 1509, an attack of 112, a defense of 155, and stamina of 198. It doesn’t have the best attack, but the health and defense stats are decent.
These are all of the moves Diggersby can learn.
Fast moves
- Mud Shot (Ground-type) – 3 damage and 4.5 energy per turn (1.5 damage per turn)
- Quick Attack (Normal-type) – 5 damage and 3.5 energy per turn (2.5 damage per turn)
Charge moves
- Dig (Ground-type) – 100 damage and 80 energy
- Hyper Beam (Normal-type) – 150 damage and 80 energy
- Earthquake (Ground-type) – 120 damage and 65 energy
- Fire Punch (Fire-type) – 55 damage and 40 energy
Diggersby’s moveset is fairly interesting. While it doesn’t have the highest attack, it does have decent durability. You can lean into this, and you want to use quick attack for Diggersby’s fast move. It doesn’t produce as much energy as mud shot, but it’s a solid move and a good way to stack up some early damage against someone.
For the charge moves, the best choices are pretty obvious. You want to pick the two with the lowest amount of energy required to use them, which is great because earthquake does even more damage than dig, despite it costing less. Also, Diggersby will earn a STAB modifier for it. It won’t earn that bonus for fire punch, but it’s a low-cost energy move that does decent damage and is a great way to finish off an opponent before they can retaliate.
Overall, while Diggersby’s attack is low, it’s overall best moveset, and heavy defenses and health make it a standout choice. No, you can’t really use it outside of Great League battles. So long as you have quick attack for its fast move and earthquake and fire punch for its charge moves, you’ll be able to have a great starter to lead the charge against opponents.
