Ping systems are slowly becoming a helpful norm in the realm of first-person shooters. Well, after much positive feedback of the system in Call of Duty: Warzone, developer Treyarch has announced that it will now be implemented into Black Ops Cold War’s traditional multiplayer too.
“For the first time in Black Ops Multiplayer, we’re adding a locational ping system as a feature across all MP modes,” a blog post on the developer’s site revealed. Like its battle royale, Treyarch mentions it will allow players to “ping objectives, loot, locations, and enemies.”
As one can imagine, this has the likelihood of changing how a lot of modes are played. For instance, those on the brink of death in the single-life mode, Search and Destroy, can now mark where an opponent is so that teammates have a better chance of closing out the game.
The function can be used by default through the D-pad for console players, and Z to those on PC. Xbox and PlayStation users will also see the debut of the Field of View slider, which ultimately allows you to zoom in and out of the perspective.
Those eager enough to test this feature out can do so soon, as the Black Ops Cold War Beta will go live on Oct. 8, but only for those who pre-order the game on PS4.
