Godfall will only be a PlayStation 5 exclusive console title for six months, according to the game’s latest trailer.
Ahead of its November 12 launch, a final look at Counterplay Games’ upcoming action RPG was released via a launch trailer on the PlayStation YouTube channel. While the footage showed off more impressive combat-oriented gameplay, it is the last few seconds of the video that make for the most intriguing viewing.
At the 1:49 mark, Sony confirms that Godfall will be “not be available on other consoles until at least 05/12/21”. We alrady knew that Godfall is getting released on PC on the same day as PS5, but this new nugget of information suggests that Godfall could come to other console platforms after May 12, 2021.
While it’s unclear what other systems Godfall will arrive on, PS4 and Xbox Series X and S consoles are possibilites. On the surface, a PS4 port would seem like the more likely option given that it will already be playable on PS5.
However, Microsoft’s next-gen consoles could also receive Godfall ports. As it is Gearbox Publishing, and not Sony, who are Godfall’s publishers, Counterplay’s game could very well make the leap across to Xbox Series X and S in Q2 or Q3 2021. Godfall has been designed as a next-gen title after all, so there is always the potential that it will arrive on Xbox Series X and S instead of PS4 too.
All of that is speculation at this point, though, so don’t take our word for it. If you want to experience Godfall when it launches, you will have to do so on PS5 or PC.
