Formatting and having small boxes for your Pokémon has been the traditional format for most Pokémon games. Usually, you can only carry six Pokémon with you, and the rest went to your PC where you could swap them out for your current roster, picking and choosing your favorites. The rest, on the PC, would be various boxes, and you could personalize and format those boxes any way you like. The tagging feature in Pokémon will be similar to that, allowing players to create their own boxes to make it easier to keep track of their favorite Pokémon.
What is a tag?
The tag will be a unique detail you have about a Pokémon. You can list it as a favorite, one you use for PvP, for raids, ones that you want to trade, or anything you’d like to label it as so you can sort it out. The tag will be a special line that makes it stand out and will be easier to identify amongst the others Pokémon.
How to tag a Pokémon
Tagging will work similarly to transferring a Pokémon. You need to hold down in the main menu until that Pokémon is highlighted, and then choose the tag option, which will be above the transfer choice. You can then label it a new tag or make it a preexisting one you’ve already created. You can also tag any Pokémon immediately after you capture them, similar to transferring them if you don’t like their stats.
How to tag multiple Pokémon
Because the format is the same as transferring Pokémon, you can highlight multiple choices and place them under the same tag. It’s a good way to quickly tag all of your shiny Pokémon, all of the specific Pokémon species you have, or make select groups from multiple Pokémon.
Where to find your tagged Pokémon
Any Pokémon tags you make will be in the same tab you keep all of your Pokémon, alongside the Pokémon and Egg tabs. You can shift over to it at any time to view all of your Pokémon that have tags and modify them as you see fit, and it makes it easy to keep track of them all.
